Crown is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns are used to restore both anterior and posterior teeth that have been broken or are at high risk of doing so due to over-sized old fillings, fractures, decay or after the tooth has a root canal. There are a variety of materials used to construct these; they may be all porcelain, or a combination of porcelain and metal.
